Exploring space technology using TKS!!

Starlink and China are racing to provide internet for billions of people who are situated in rural areas. Unfortunately, they're running into problems with astronomers who are unable to properly observe the universe because of the thousands of satellites up in space.

A group of former NASA scientists took a step back from observing our planet from here on Earth to observing our world using small replaceable satellites (CubeSats) from outer space. These satellites have more recent technology compared to the massive satellites that orbits our planet today. CubeSats help scientists, governments, and the rest of Earth’s population take a closer look at big changes that have happened over the course of time such as deforestation, illegal fishing, yearly harvest, etc.

With the number of satellites orbiting around space, collisions are inevitable. Unfortunately, when satellites and other devices collide they shoot debris everywhere, which poses a threat to other devices. In 2016, a single speck of paint damaged a window in the ISS, which further shows how increasingly dangerous the outer orbit has become. Luckily, there are many projects set to help clean up space debris, one that I find pretty innovative is CleanSpace. Their idea is to remove satellites that are no longer active to help reduce collisions.

Building space devices is extremely expensive, which limits our planet’s capabilities in exploring the vast universe. Recently, many scientist and engineers have looked more into the capabilities of electric thrusters for the future of rocket launches and space technology. The ionic thruster which manipulates electrons to produce ions lets us move objects through space without emissions or expensive fuel costs.

As space technology continues to evolve, many upcoming companies have ideas that could change how we view space. Astrobotics’ goal is to set up a delivery service from the moon and back. This would let so many different nations and companies send their technology to the moon to make new and better discoveries in the future.
